Kasondra “KC” Caldwell
After an early introduction to music and performance, KC began singing at the ripe age of four years old. Her childhood favorites were The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, and Annie. Destiny’s Child and Christina Aguilera were also among her early vocal influences. She continued to blossom in musical theater, performing in productions such as Fame, Little Shop of Horrors, and SMITY’s 80’s Show.
KC went on to attend the University of Memphis, where she studied applied voice as a music industry student. In her time at the university, KC founded and directed the Surround A Cappella Group. Surround grew to be a 13-piece ensemble and had the opportunity to perform at the National A Cappella Convention. She later graduated from UofM with a degree in Music Business with a vocal concentration.
As a vocalist, KC has help positions as a contemporary worship leader, has worked with the Memphis Jazz Workshop, performs locally and regionally in various music scenes, and has competed and advanced in NBC’s The Voice. She continues to build her artistry as a leader and collaborator with many of Memphis’ most renowned musicians. She can be seen regularly with Party Beat and KO & The Crew. Through these experiences, KC develops more knowledge and musical know-how that she imparts directly on her students. She plans to continue her path of vocal education in the disciplines of theater, rhythm and blues, gospel, a cappella and choral music, and jazz.
