JIMMY ARNOLD

Jimmy Arnold has been performing professionally for over 30 years. Beginning at the age of 7 and continuing through high school and into college he studied piano and guitar privately with several teachers in the Chicago area including some of Rush Street’s finest jazz guitarists.

Throughout high school he performed at school functions as a soloist as well as a member of various ensembles including the chorus and drama departments. In addition, he performed with a progression of dance bands throughout the Chicago area.

While attending DePaul University in Chicago Jimmy studied both business and liberal arts curriculums including general music studies. Presented with opportunities to perform professionally Jimmy left DePaul and headed for the burgeoning music scene in Los Angeles.

Over the next two decades his performance skills were honed in the live venues and recording studios throughout Los Angeles and southern California. During the 1980's Jimmy took voice lessons from Andrew Boettner (an associate of Seth Riggs - voice coach to such stars as Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, etc.) who helped Jimmy to learn correct methods of singing with full expression while protecting the voice.

In 1989 Jimmy relocated to Memphis. Since moving to Memphis he has continued to perform as a vocalist and guitarist with several local musical groups (including Joyce Cobb, Ruby Wilson, Wendy Moten, the Memphis Horns, Reba Russell, Bob Westbrook, Jim Mahannah & Windsong, Backswing) as well as nationally touring acts.

In addition to teaching and performing Jimmy also offers recording services specializing in custom accompanyments for songwriters, singers and instrumentalists; remote recording; editing and CD creation.
